InFocus is a new smartphone brand in India. The company debuted in India by launching two budget smartphones, InFocus M330 and InFocus M2. The smartphones are doing well and after the success of their previous phones, the company is back with yet another decent budget smartphone M350.
Priced at INR 7999, M350 will be competing with smartphones like Lenovo A7000, Moto E, Redmi 1S and Dazen 1. Will InFocus M350 be able to compete against these big players or will it go down the line as most of the new smartphones in the market, let’s see in this detailed review.
Design and Build Quality
InFocus M350 don’t feature a regular flat design like other phones. The phone has got a curved back with a matt finish which makes it perfect for holding and offers an excellent grip. The metallic edges make the phone look like a premium device.
The phone is slim, sleek and compact in design. At just 146 grams, the phone is light in weight. There is InFocus branding on both sides of the phone. The volume rocker is on the left side and the power button is on the right side of the phone.
The 3.5mm audio jack is placed at the top of the phone and Micro USB is present at the bottom of the phone. There are three small holes for a speaker at the bottom back side of the phone. The phone features a square-shaped camera with a Flash at the right side of it.
There is a secondary mic at just above the camera which is used for noise cancellation. Apart from the curved back, there is nothing special in the design as the company has made sure that the design remains as simple as possible. The design could have been much better if the bezels around the display were smaller in size.
The phone features a 5 inch HD display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. The capacitive display has a pixel resolution of 720 x 1080 pixels. The display of the phone is good which delivers a beautiful colour reproduction. Although, the only downside of the display is its bezel length. The phone looks much taller than an average 5 inch phone due to huge bezel length at both bottom and top of the display. All in all, the display is good at such a price range.
Hardware and Performance
InFocus M350 is powered by a 1.5 GHz MediaTek MT6732 Quad Core processor. It is equipped by a 2GB of RAM which means you will not face any type of lag. It also features ARM Mali-T760 and a 64-bit processor. The phone offers excellent multitasking and delivers completely lag-free multitasking. We tried playing some games like Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger on the phone and it was a good experience.
Although, there was a bit stutter when we changed the setting to high graphics but, you can’t complain at such an affordable price range. The phone offers 16GB of Internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB by using a micro SD card.
Software and Connectivity
One of the most disappointing features of InFocus M350 is its software. The phone stills run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat which is bit outdated now. Almost, all the new models are now coming with latest Android Lollipop which always comes as an added advantage.
The phone lacks gesture control, a feature which is expected in almost every phone now. InFocus is using its own UI which do look fresh and new but, it actually is not as effective as it could have been. Coming to the connectivity part, it offers all common features like Wi-Fi, FM, GPS, Bluetooth, Sensors etc. It is a dual SIM phone where one SIM supports 4G LTE and other supports only 3G.
Now, coming to the best part of the phone. The phone boasts of an 8MP camera at the both sides. The rear 8MP camera is capable of capturing full HD videos at ease and it is equipped with a BSI sensor and f/2.2 aperture for delivering excellent images even in low light. The rear camera offers four different modes for capturing images which are Normal Mode, Live Photo Mode, Motion Track Mode and Panorama Mode. It would not be an exaggeration to say that phone boasts of one of the best camera in its class.
The front camera is also an 8MP camera which can be used to take selfies and do video calling. However, the front camera is not good as the rear camera and it faces issues while taking selfies in low images. Overall, the camera is the one best thing about the phone.
The phone is backed up by a 2500mAh non removal battery. The battery is capable of delivering a backup of up to 1 day at moderate usage which is decent enough. The battery is not an issue with the device and you will not face any problems with the battery life of the phone.
At INR 7,999, InFocus M350 is a device which is capable of giving tough competition to other brands. The phone is available on Snapdeal through a flash sale. The phone will go on sale again on 3rd July 2015. If you are looking for a phone with an excellent camera, great performance and good battery life, you can include InFocus M350 in your list.
