2015 year for Huawei, China’s bestselling Telecom equipment and Smartphone manufacturer, who has been trying to extend its smartphone market globally. Huawei’s association with Google which resulted in Nexus 6P gave it worldwide fame, and now, playing its cards right, the company has signed star footballer Lionel Messi as its brand ambassador!
“Lionel Messi will help our brand to encourage people to focus, persevere and breakthrough; to connect with greatness, especially in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where Huawei puts great devotions. We both honor the path we walked to what we have achieved, and with each new challenge we renew our commitment to find the path to success.” said, Kevin Ho, President, Handset Business, Huawei Consumer BG.
Announcing this partnership, Huawei talked about Huawei’s ideology of facing challenges to get better rather than making success the end goal. Messi reverberated the same sentiments.
“You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and go all in, always looking forward to achieving greatness. The day you think there are no improvements to be made, you have to keep working for reaching other achievements,” Lionel Messi stated.
Huawei didn’t reveal how much money it will cough up for this partnership, but Global media reports the amount as 8 Million Euros per year, which sounds plausible.
Last year Huawei tasted sweet success with its Honor brand and handsets like Nexus 6P in markets outside home country China. The company also claims to have shipped 3 million Mate 8 smartphones globally, since its launch late last year.
“We are happy to announce our collaboration with an extraordinary individual who inspires people all over the world to pursue their dreams, to face challenges to become better with each day. Just like our brand which strives for excellence and innovates to better itself to reach newer heights of greatness, Messi is the epitome of perseverance, excellence and commitment.” said Mr. Allen Wang, President Consumer Business Group for Huawei India.
