Huawei has launched Maimang 5, a metal unibody phone with rounded corners and a fingerprint sensor in China. The Maimang 5 may later roll out globally as Huawei G9, since the Maimang 4 introduced last year was later pushed as G8 world-wide.
The Maimang 5 is a midrange smartphone that flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 625 octa-core chip ticking at 2GHz. The phone is available in two variants. You can choose between 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and 4GB RAM, 64GB storage. No matter which one you choose, you will still get to plug in MicroSD card for secondary storage, but only if you compromise on the second SIM card (it’s a hybrid dual SIM device).
Camera hardware is pretty decent too. You get a 16MP rear camera, OIS, PDAF, 4K recording support and an 8MP selfie camera with wide angle lens.
The Maimang 5 is running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1 and has a 3340mAh battery. Other features include 4G LTE with VoLTE , Wi-FI, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, USB OTG, and USB 2.0 Type-C port.
The Huawei Maimang 5 will be available in China starting from CNY 2,399 (24,000 INR Approx). The 4GB RAM variant is available in Champagne Gold, and Moonlight Silver colour options for CNY 2,599 (Approx 26000). The 3GB RAM variant will be available in Champagne Gold and Rose Gold colors.
