HTC is a well known name in the world of smartphones but they are still struggling to capture the budget segment. Last year they launched multiple sub 10,000 INR devices but they didn’t perform too well. This year HTC is back with Desire 526G+ which offers powerful specifications at an affordable price tag. So, is it worth buying? Let’s find out.
Design & Build Quality
HTC Desire 526G+ Dual SIM is one of the best looking phones in this price segment. The phone measures 139.8 x 69.8 x 9.9 mm and weighs around 154 grams. The front of the device is dominated by a 4.7 inch capacitive touchscreen display.
Above the display you have an earpiece, 2 megapixel front facing camera and hidden proximity & ambient light sensors.
Below the display you have HTC branding and speaker grille. The earpiece and loudspeaker grilles look similar and we thought that there are dual front facing speakers but unfortunately only the bottom grille is for the speaker.
MicroUSB port long with primary microphone is present at the bottom of the phone while a 3.5mm audio jack is present at the top.
Volume rocker and a power/lock key is present on the right side of the phone. You do not have any ports/buttons present on the other side. Moving to the back, it comes with a 13 megapixel camera along with LED flash and HTC branding.
The phone comes with a removable plastic back panel and underneath it you will find a 2,000 mAh battery, two SIM card slots and a microSD slot. The device supports microSD card of upto 32Gb storage.
Overall just like any other HTC device, Desire 526G+ dual Sim has good build quality and design. The body is made entirely from plastic but still feels solid and sturdy.
Desire 526G+ comes with a 4.7 inch display which has a resolution of 540×960 pixels and a pixel density of 234 ppi. The resolution is not HD but still it is decent for most of the tasks. You might find display not upto the mark in case of high end games. Touch response of the display and color reproduction is quite good.
The display has decent viewing angles and brightness levels. Unfortunately there is no scratch resistant glass protection so we advice you to install a screen protector or a tempered glass in order to protect your display.
Hardware & Performance
The phone is powered by a 1.7 Ghz octa core processor along with 1Gb of RAM and Mali 450 GPU. The device is powerful enough to handle most of your daily tasks and apps. We didn’t face any kind of lag or slowness while navigating through the interface or while opening/closing the applications.
To measure the performance we ran few benchmark tests on the device – Antutu, GeekBench 3, Nenamark2 & Quadrant Standard and played 2 games – Modern Combat 4 & Temple Run 2. Watch the video below to checkout the benchmark scores and the gaming performance:
So as you saw in the above video, the phone can even handle high end games like Modern combat 4 with ease. The phone does gets heated up after 20-30 mins of gaming but it is not a major issue. The Speaker is loud enough to enjoy music, videos or games and since the speaker is present in the front it does not gets muffled when you place the device on table or bed.
Talking about the connectivity features it supports 3G, Dual SIM, Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS. Overall, it is a good smartphone as far as performance is concerned.
Desire 526G+ runs on Anroid 4.4.2 KitKat OS with Sense UI on top. The interface is similar to any other HTC device you might have seen and it also comes with Blinkfeed. Blinkfeed allows you to access information from all your social networks and popular news feeds at a single magazine style page. There isn’t much to talk about the software present on the device but seeing the track record of HTC we doubt that users will get the Android Lollipop update anytime soon.
The phone comes with an 8 megapixel back camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front facing camera. The camera app offers normal features like panorama, beauty face and live photo. It can record 1080p videos at 30fps.
The quality of captured images is decent in most of the conditions. The front camera is fine for capturing selfies and video calls. Though we are not impressed with the camera, it is not that bad considering the price at which it is available in the market.
The phone comes with a 2,000 mAh battery which can easily last for an entire day with moderate usage. Even with heavy usage it lasted for around 10 hours which is good enough for most of the users. The phone has a Power saving mode which limits the resource utilization to improve the battery life in case you are running out of battery.
HTC Desire 526G+ is available exclusively on Snapdeal.com for Rs 10,400 which makes it one of the decent budget smartphones available in the market. If you are looking for a smartphone with good design combined with great performance and long battery life, you can definitely checkout Desire 526G+.
