Renowned smartphone maker Gionee too resorted to dual-camera smartphones with its latest smartphone, the S9, that was recently launched in China for 2499 Yuan or roughly 25,000 INR.
The Gionee S9 has a metal unibody design and makes room for a 13MP Sony sensor and a 5MP Samsung sensor on the back. As you would have guessed, the second camera is for depth sensing which helps Gionee S9 distinguish between foreground and background to add bokeh and other depth of field effects.
The handset includes a 5.5-inch LTPS Full HD display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. On the inside, there is a 2.0 GHz Octa Core MediaTek Helio P10 CPU paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Since this is a hybrid dual SIM phone, you can also add MicroSD card storage at the expense of second SIM card.
The Gionee S9 measures 154.2×76.4×7.4mm and tips the scale at 168.2 grams. The phone houses a modest 3000mAh battery within.
Other features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, fingerprint sensor (clubbed with the home button) and Android Marshmallow based Amigo 3.2 UI.
For now, Gionee S9 will retail only in China starting November 25. It will be available in Black, Gold and Rose Gold colors. There is no official word on global availability yet, but it does look like a phone Gionee could bring to India in near future.
