Build & Design
At first glance FinePix HS 25 EXR looks like a High End DSLR camera. The company has provided a rubberized coating on the camera for a better grip. Talking about the design, the camera comes with a 3 inch tilting LCD screen. The display is made up of 460,000 dots and provides flexible viewing options for different shooting positions. There is also an electronic viewfinder (EVF) just above the screen. The display gets automatically turned off when you are using the EVF due to the presence of a eye sensor. There is a button to manually switch between the EVF and screen.
At the top right corner of the camera you have a power button which can be set to on or off and the shutter key. You also have a mode dial to quickly set various modes on the camera and a command dial for selecting various options. the +/- button is the exposure composition button and the button next to it is the continuous shooting button.
On the right side you have a movie record button(button with orange circle) , AE/AF lock button for locking the exposure & focus, play button to view captures images, Disp/Back button to view or hide the indicators and a selector button. The selector button has a menu button in middle, function/delete button on cursor up key, flash on cursor right key, macro button on cursor left key and self timer option on cursor down key.
On the left side you have a quick access to various camera settings button. It includes ISO button, AE button, AF button, AF C-S-M button and the WB button.
The camera has a SD card slot on the right side you just need to slide the compartment towards you and it would open allowing you to insert the SD card.
On the bottom of the camera you have a small hole which can be used to mount the camera on a Tripod and the battery compartment. The camera uses 4 AA type batteries. According to us is it would have been much better if there was a single rechargeable battery instead of 4 AA type batteries.
The Fujifilm FinePix HS25EXR has a pop-up flash. Below the flash you would the fine the Fujifilm branding. The camera has a f/2.8 24mm Super EBC Fujinon lens with 30x manual barrel zoom capability.

The manual barrel zoom is something that people don’t get with a normal Digital Camera. Once you start using it, you will just develop a love for the same. The barrel zoom provides you much better control and precision than the regular button zooming available in the digital cameras.
It comes with a powerful 30X optical zoom and 60 Intelligent Digital Zoom. To give you an idea about the power of 30X optical zoom we clicked 2 images from the same location. First without any zoom and the other after using 30X zoom.
In the above image we just added a black circle to give you an idea where we would be zooming and clicking our next image. Just check out the image below which was clicked after using the full 30x zoom.
You can see even after zooming 30X the image quality is as good as the first image. You won’t find much noise or blur in the images clicked at 30x Zoom. This is really a great thing for people looking to click far away objects like in the case of wildlife photography.
Here are some of the other sample images we clicked with the Fujifilm FinePix HS25EXR camera :
Overall, the camera performed really well even in the low light conditions. The flash is quite powerful and you won’t notice much noise in the images while shooting in low light conditions due to the presence of CMOS Shift stabilization and high ISO.
We really like the quality of the images captured by the Fujifilm FinePix HS25EXR Digital Camera. The camera is quite easy to use even for the beginners.
