Micromax is all set to launch its first Yu branded smartphones in India on 18th December 2014. Company has signed an exclusive partnership with Cyanogen for the Yu brand. The announcement about the new collaboration was made last month and since then company has also announced a theme design challenge and an innovative app contest for the Cyanogen OS.
Micromax will be launching two devices under the new Yu Brand and everybody is curious about the specifications of these devices. It is expected that the company will launch a high end device and a mid range device, both with an affordable price tag. We were able to obtain some exclusive news about the processors of these devices from a reliable source.
One of the devices will be powered by a Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 processor which has a maximum clock speed of 1.7 GHz. It is the first octa-core 64 bit capable CPU with Quad-core 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A53 and quad-core 1.0GHz A53. The device will come with Adreno 405 GPU, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0 WiFi, USb 2.0 support and Quick Charge Support.
Other specifications of the device are not confirmed yet but it is expected that it will come with 5.5 inch full HD display, 2GB RAM and 2000 mAh battery. It appears to be a powerful device with great specifications and we will confirm more specifications asap.
CyanogenMod added the support for Snapdragon 8916 and 8939 chipsets recently which can be seen from their source code activity on GitHub. This also indicates that the company is going to use these processors in their upcoming devices.
Along with a high end device, Micromax will also launch a mid range device which is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor. It has 4 cores running at a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz. It comes with Adreno 306 GPU and supports 4G LTE.
During the launch of the Yu brand, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma had said, “This will be a game changer not just in India but globally too. Yu has been envisioned for building an ecosystem of connected devices and offer customised experience to users.”
