Coolpad is no more an unknown brand in the Indian smartphone market. The last phone they launched in India was the Coolpad Mega 3 and Note 3S and both were some really good phones for their price. This time Coolpad has brought the Coolpad Cool 1 Dual smartphone in India with Snapdragon 652 and 3/4GB RAM at a price tag of Rs. 13,999. Let us see how this phone fairs out in this review of the Coolpad Cool 1 Dual.

Design & Build
The build quality of the phone is quite good and it comes across as a very solid phone altogether. The phone has a metal chassis which makes it quite sturdy. The whole metal body has a matte finish but there’s a smooth mirror finish on the fingerprint sensor.
On the front of the phone you will find a 5.5-inch full HD IPS display and above the display, you can see the earpiece along with the front facing camera and sensors. The bottom of the screen has three backlit touch capacitive buttons for navigation. The back of the phone is quite interesting. You will see the dual 13MP cameras along with a dual LED flash. Below that is a fingerprint scanner with a mirror finish. There’s also some Coolpad branding on the lower side.
The right side of the phone has all the buttons that are present on the phone. The volume rocker as well as the power button are placed on the right edge of the phone. The left edge is empty with no buttons and just has a SIM tray which can accommodate two SIM cards at a time.
The bottom of the phone has the speaker, microphone and the USB Type-C port that will be used for charging and data syncing. The top of the phone houses a 3.5mm audio jack along with an Infrared blaster so the phone can also work as a remote.
The phone has a 5.5-inch full HD IPS panel which produces really good looking colors on the screen. The screen is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to prevent scratches as well.
The viewing angles of this display are good too and it is clearly visible under sunlight as well. The brightness levels are controlled by the light sensor that the phone has and it works well. All in all the phone has a really sharp and good looking display.
Camera & Imaging
The name Coolpad Cool1 Dual has the word dual for a reason. There are two primary cameras of 13MP on the rear. This is one of the firsts for a phone in this price range.
The two cameras have two different tasks. One of the camera captures the colors while the other one captures the image in monochrome. In the post shot processing, the Camera software combines the image with the color to make sure that the images you’re shooting look good and have accurate colors.
Even the night shots looked good with the Night mode in the Camera app. You can take some really bright low light photos with this thing. Even the front facing 8MP camera works really well and can take some good looking selfies.
Software, Hardware & Performance
The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and it is skinned with EUI which is LeEco’s very own skin for their firmware. But now that the companies are related closely, Coolpad has gone the route and ditched CoolUI for EUI.
The software on this phone is quite good and you get some cool new features with the EUI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. You don’t have to deal with any bloatware and the only extra app you’ll find is the Amazon app which honestly we all use.
Anyway, coming to the hardware, the phone has good hardware to show off. Not only does it have a really good 1.8 Ghz Snapdragon 652 processor, but the Adreno 510 GPU will also make sure that you don’t face any lag while gaming. The 4GB RAM is also enough to handle the apps in the background and the RAM combined with a powerful processor is a recipe for a great phone. All in all, the performance will be top notch in this phone.
Battery Life & Verdict
The Coolpad Cool1 Dual smartphone has a battery of 4000mAh which makes the phone a bit heavy. But the battery life you get is very good. You can charge the phone in the morning, take it out and use it all day and you will still have some battery juice left.
The phone is a great buy at a price of Rs. 13,999 for those who can deal with the fact that it has a non-expandable storage. But 32GB storage is enough for most of the users.
