Flagship phones define the year. While 2015 was a bad year for Android flagships owing to performance and heating issues in the top of the line chipsets, 2016 is where all OEMs put their best foot forward. We saw some truly remarkable smartphones this year that were really powerful and easy to use. Here is the list of Best flagship smartphones launched in 2016:
iPhone 7 Plus
Apple iPhones 7 got a lot of flak for not looking different enough than its successor but is a lot more to it than meets the eye. Even keeping the brand value aside for a minute, the handset has everything you would expect from a flagship.
It is still the fastest phone around, is resistant to dirt and water, has an extra telephoto lens for effective 2X Zoom and includes stereo speakers. Besides, the display is as gorgeous as ever, the new Touch button facilitates faster double and triple taps, the rear camera is even more accurate, and the 7MP selfie camera can take excellent images even in low lighting.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
The Galaxy S7 Edge was launched at MWC 2016 and it was one of the first flagship smartphones launched this year. Despite being launched before other flagship devices it is one of the best Android smartphone available till now in the market.
The stunningly gorgeous Android phone brandishes dual curved side edges, a 2K display, one of the best Smartphone camera around, and a water resistant body. It is also available in a bunch of lively color options including coral blue. If you are looking for a phone that looks gorgeous and unique, the Galaxy S7 Edge should be your best bet.
Google Pixel XL
This year Google took full control of hardware and software to demonstrate true Android potential in its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
The new Google Pixel phones bestow truly premium Android experience, which includes best in class camera performance as well. You get sharp AMOLED screens, top of the line Snapdragon 821 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB storage and comfortable one-day usage worth of battery backup.
Google is asking a premium for its Pixel handsets but there is enough hardware and software muscle to justify the high-end price tag.
The best mid-range or value for money flagship phone this year came from the OnePlus camp. The OnePlus 3 garnered rave reviews world wide and with OnePlus 3T, the Chinese startup further improved its game.
The OnePlus 3T, which is a faster and upgraded version of OnePlus 3 is what we have been recommending to anyone who needs a phone under 30,000 INR. And that is because of the simple yet stunning day to day experience that it offers.
To start with, its aluminum body looks jaw dropping good and the Snapdragon 821 humming inside coupled with 6GB RAM and light Oxygen OS makes it blazing fast. The camera performance is also pretty good for the price.
This year, Huawei embraced dual camera technology and ran with it. Its new global flagship, Huawei P9, employs innovative dual 12MP camera setup with Leica lenses on top. With the help of one extra monochrome sensor on the back, the Huawei P9 camera can gather 300 percent more light.
Other notable features include slim metal unibody design, Capable Kirin 955 chipset and a gorgeous 5.2-Inch Full HD display with 2.5D glass layered on top. If you love to click images using a smartphone, then this is probably the best camera smartphone for 2016.
LG G5 was another innovative handset that we saw this year. The modular design handset allows you to swap accessories or LG Friends that included a VR module, a battery pack, a Camera grip and more. Unfortunately, the mods weren’t hot swappable and thus LG isn’t likely to continue with the concept in the upcoming 2017 flagship phone.
Other than the mods, the LG G5 also benefits from a spectacular dual rear camera that can be used to click wide angle shots, a 2K IPS LCD display, and Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor.
