ASUS unveils ROG Strix GL553 for Rs. 94,990 at Indian Gaming Show (IGS) 2017

Asus has launched a new gaming laptop in their series of Strix laptops in India at the Indian Gaming Show 2017. The Asus ROG Strix GL553 comes with the new NVIDIA GTX1050 and GTX1050Ti graphics processor and some really good specifications at a price of Rs. 94,990. The laptop was first launched at CES 2017 and it is a 15.6-inch laptop and it is powered by the new Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake Core i5 or i7 processor. You can choose from 8GB or 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM and it is expandable up to 32GB as you have 2 DIMM slots for RAM. It has a 60Hz 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display which is quite bright at 300 nits.

The laptop comes with Windows 10 out of the box which is being updated by Microsoft actively and it is expected to bring some great tweaks for gaming in the next major update. Coming to the storage, you get 1TB internal hard disk that can spin up to 7200rps which clearly means that it will be speedy. You also have the option to have a 128 or 256GB M.2 SSD for faster storage.

Asus hasn’t skimped on ports on this laptop and you get a proper Gigabit ethernet port along with 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 USB Type-C port. There’s another USB 2.0 port. You can connect the laptop with an external display using HDMI and you have a 3.5mm combo audio port for headphone and mic. All these ports are present and you also get a 2-in-1 card reader.

The laptop is powered by an embedded 48Whrs battery which can provide decent battery life. The laptop also has, what Asus likes to call gamer-friendly keyboard. The keyboard is powered by ASUS Aura and you get to customize the lighting on the keyboard using the four different lighting areas for better lighting in the dark.

The laptop itself weighs 2.5KG and is made up of Aluminum & Polycarbonate which feels sturdy overall. The looks are sporty and the lid has Asus’s highlight ROG logo.
