Apart from 7th gen iPhones, Apple also announced a new Apple watch series 2 along with iPhone 7 and 7 Plus at an event in San Francisco. This series comes with several significant improvements like faster processor, 2x brighter display and built-in GPS. According to Apple, this series is 50% faster than its predecessor.
Apple Watch Series 2 features a display with 1000 nits brightness and is powered by an improved dual core processor with S2 chip and a new and faster GPU. Apple calls these watches “Swim Proof” which means this Apple Watch series is water resistant up to depth of 50 meters.
Apple Watch series 2 comes with built in GPS chip which tracks your running, walking and other fitness activities accurately and there is no need to carry your cell-phone during these activities. It also comes with the new WatchOS 3 which is lighter and faster.
Apple also introduced a ceramic variant of Apple Watch series with aluminium and stainless steel band which will be available for USD 1249. Apple watch series 2 comes in gold, rose gold, silver or space gray color options in aluminium and silver and space black color options in stainless steel starting from USD 369. These watches will be available for pre-order from tomorrow onwards and will be rolling out from 16th of September onwards.
Apple has also announced that the Apple Watch series 2 will be available in India from 7th of October, 2016. Watches with aluminium and stainless steel bands will be available starting from 32,900 INR and special ceramic Apple watch edition starts at 1,10,900 INR.
