The third generation Apple smartwatch, the Apple Watch 3, is now official. It’s the first in the series to support LTE connectivity. Apple also announced that its smart wearable has seen 50 percent year on year growth and is now the best selling watch in the world surpassing likes of Fossil, Omega and Rolex in terms of revenue.
The Apple Watch 3 with 4G support will cost $399 (or roughly 25,500 INR) and a non 4G version also exists that shall retail for $329 (or roughly 21,053). It will be available in 33mm and 42mm case sizes starting from September 22. You can also pre-order one for yourself starting September 15.
All Apple Watch 3 models will be powered by Apples new dual core processor, W2, that, according to company claims, is 70 percent faster while being 50 percent more power efficient. The new chipset is also the reason that Siri can now talk on the Apple Watch as well.
Battery life is rated to be around 18 hours with mixed usage, which is good enough considering LTE support. For LTE, there is an electronic SIM in the watch and the display acts as antenna. The 4G LTE variant will be distinguished with a red crown and have an exclusive ‘explorer’ watch face that will show connectivity related data.
Apple Watch 3 will be available in Gold, Silver and Space Gray color options. Apple is also teaming up Hermes to launch some unique models with custom bands and watch faces with prices starting at $1,149.
