Airtel has tied-up with domestic smartphone manufacturer, Celkon to announce its new affordable 4G handset named Celkon Smart 4G in India. It comes with an effective price of 1,349 INR and is the second smartphone under Airtel’s Mera Pehla 4G Smartphone initiative. Before this the company had also announced Airtel Karbonn 40 India.
The company will collaborate with multiple mobile makers to provide affordable 4G smartphones. With Celkon Smart 4G, Airtel is offering a subscription plan of Rs. 169 under which consumers will get unlimited voice calls, 0.5GB 4G data per day for 28 days.
Consumers need to initially pay 2,849 INR to get Celkon Smart 4G and also will have to do monthly recharge of Rs. 169 for continuous 36 months. After 18 months, Airtel will refund Rs. 500 and after 36 months another 1000 INR will also be refunded.
Buyer are not bound to do a Rs. 169 recharge every month, but have to do recharges worth 3,000 INR in the first 18 months to get Rs. 500 cash back and do recharges worth Rs. 3,000 more in next 18 months to get total benefit of Rs. 1,500.
Coming to the specs, Celkon Smart 4G includes a 4 inch WVGA display and is powered by 1.3 GHz quad core processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. There is 3.2MP rear and 2MP selfie shooter onboard. This Android 6.0 Marshmallow based handset houses a 1500mAh battery and supports dual SIM support. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, Micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack.
